Hot foil
Hot foil printing presses a metallic foil into paper using a heated metal plate and real pressure. The foil bonds only where the plate touches, leaving a mirror-bright mark sitting slightly below the surface of the sheet.
Wedding stationery, pressed by hand
We are Neh and Vee. We design and hand-print wedding invitations in our Leicester studio: hot foil, letterpress and blind emboss, one sheet at a time.
Your invitation is the first thing your guests will hold, and for most of them it is the first real sense of what the day is going to feel like. We think that is worth making properly.
Everything we print is made in our studio at Makers' Yard in Leicester, on a hand-operated foiling press built in the 1980s. There is no automatic feed. Each sheet goes in by hand and comes out with the foil pressed into the fibre rather than sitting on top of it.

Letterpress
Letterpress is printing by pressing an inked plate into paper hard enough to leave a physical impression.
Embossing and debossing
Blind embossing raises an area of paper; debossing presses it down.
Semi-bespoke collections
Designs we have already drawn and already made plates for, so the setup cost is shared. You choose the paper, the foil colour and the wording. See the collections.
Or we start with a blank sheet
Bespoke means the design exists only for you. We talk through your venue, your colours and how the day should feel, draw something from scratch, and print it ourselves.

How a commission works
You tell us about the day
Your date, your venue, roughly how many invitations you need, and anything you already know you want. There is a form, but a phone call is often faster.
We quote, honestly
A written quote with the pieces, the finishes and the quantities set out separately, so you can see what each part costs and change your mind before anything is made.
We design and you proof
Digital proofs, as many rounds as it takes. This is the stage to change anything. Read the dates out loud, and get someone else to check the names.
We make the plate and print
A metal plate is cut for your artwork, and every sheet is fed into the press by hand. This is the part that cannot be hurried, and the part you can feel.
It arrives, ready to send
Assembled, with ribbon and seals if you have chosen them, and addressed if you have asked us to. Then it is over to the post office.
