What bespoke means here
Bespoke means nothing about the design exists before we talk to you. We start from your venue, your colours and how you want the day to feel, draw something from scratch, and cut new plates for it. Nobody else will have it, and once it is printed the plates are yours.
It is not the right choice for everyone, and we will say so. If you have fallen for one of our semi-bespoke collections and only want to change the wording, that is a better use of your money.
Who it suits
Couples with something specific in mind: a venue worth drawing, a colour that has to be exact, a shape nobody sells off the shelf, or a multi-ceremony wedding where several pieces have to work as one set.
How a bespoke commission works
Conversation
You tell us about the wedding. Date, venue, guest numbers, and anything you already know you want. A phone call is usually faster than a form.
Quote
A written quote with each piece, finish and quantity listed separately, so you can see what everything costs and change your mind before anything is made.
Design and proofs
We draw. You proof. As many rounds as it takes, at no extra charge, because getting the details right matters more than the admin.
Plates and printing
A metal plate is cut for your artwork, and every sheet is fed into the press by hand. This is the part that cannot be hurried.
Assembly and delivery
Ribbon, wax seals and vellum wraps if you have chosen them, addressed if you have asked us to, and delivered ready to send.
Finishes available
- Hot foil. Hot foil printing presses a metallic foil into paper using a heated metal plate and real pressure.
- Letterpress. Letterpress is printing by pressing an inked plate into paper hard enough to leave a physical impression.
- Embossing and debossing. Blind embossing raises an area of paper; debossing presses it down.
Most of our favourite suites use two: foil on the names so there is a focal point, and a blind deboss pattern behind it that you only notice when the light moves.
Lead times
Eight to ten weeks from the first conversation. Get in touch four to six months before you want invitations posted, which for most couples means about nine to twelve months before the wedding.
Common questions
How long does a bespoke commission take?
Allow eight to ten weeks from the first conversation to delivery. Design and proofing sit in front of the printing, and the printing itself is the predictable part. What most often stretches a timeline is waiting on final wording, usually a parents' names line or a ceremony time that is still being agreed. If your date is tighter than that, ask anyway rather than assuming.
What does bespoke cost compared with semi-bespoke?
More, and the difference is design time and plates. A bespoke suite is drawn from nothing and needs its own metal plate for every colour and every finish, where a semi-bespoke collection has already been through both and shares that cost. If you have a budget in mind, tell us at the start. We would rather show you where it goes furthest than quote something you were never going to say yes to.
Can you work with our colours and our venue?
Yes. Send us a physical sample where you can, a ribbon or a fabric swatch rather than a screenshot, because screens lie about colour and cotton paper softens every shade. We also draw venues in watercolour, which can go on the invitation, the envelope liner or the on-the-day stationery so the whole set ties together.
What if we do not know what we want yet?
That is normal and it is genuinely fine. Most couples arrive with a venue, a rough colour and a Pinterest board that contradicts itself. Our first conversation is mostly us asking questions. You do not need to have decided on a finish, a paper or a shape before you get in touch.
